Joint CLA/Czech Multi-Bar International Law Conference, Prague

In October 2019, the CLA International Law Section signed a Friendship Agreement with the Czech Bar Association at our joint CLA/Czech Bar Multi-Bar International Law Conference in Prague. The conference was a great success, and the ILS is very enthusiastic about our continuing cooperation with the Czech Bar Association, as well as the opportunities this cooperation will create for our respective members in terms of enhanced understanding of international law, and networking with foreign attorneys. The Agreement was signed by outgoing CLA ILS Chairs Michael Newman and Alexandra Darraby, and incoming CLA ILS Chair Josh Surowitz. On the Czech Bar Association side, the agreement was signed by Vice President Robert Nemec, International Law Chair Antonin Mokry, and Head of International, Eva Indruchova. In addition to receiving cutting edge international legal continuing education, attendees enjoyed fine restaurants and authentic beer halls with our local hosts, receptions at Prague law firms, boat cruises, architectural tours, and visits to the Czech High Court and City Hall.

In January 2020, the CLA International Law Section signed a Friendship Agreement with the Barcelona Bar and the Milan Bar. We look forward to working with the Barcelona Bar to organize a joint conference for the benefit of our members. It will be from June 29 to July 3, 2020 so save the dates. More details to follow.

Upcoming CLA and CLA-ILS Events

February 18, 2020: Webinar – Eliminating Gender Bias: Practical Strategies and Tips for International Business Lawyers from 12 noon to 1.30pm.

March 2, 2020: Deadline to submit application to join the 2020-2021 Executive Committee.

March 4, 2020: California Lawyers Association Legislative Day. Venue: Sacramento.

June 29 – July 3, 2020: SAVE THE DATE! Joint conference with the Barcelona Bar Association. Watch out for this space. Venue: Barcelona, Spain.

September 24-26, 2020: CLA-ILS Annual Meeting. We will be inviting our fellow friends who have signed Friendship Agreements with us to attend. Come join us and give them a warm welcome to California. Venue: San Diego.
