2024 Energy Law Conference
On April 19, 2024, the Environmental Law Section of the California Lawyers Association will present its fifth Energy Law Conference. The conference will be held in-person in downtown Oakland at the main auditorium of the Elihu M. Harris State Office Building (1515 Clay St., Oakland, CA 94612).
Town Hall Meeting with State Bar on Proposed Fee Increase and Options for Structuring the Fee
At its meeting on March 21, 2024, the State Bar Board of Trustees approved a request for an increase in the 2025 mandatory licensing fee of $125 per active attorney. The State Bar’s justification for the licensing fee increase is articulated in the State Bar report submitted to the Legislature. The State Bar’s proposal also calls on the Legislature to include in future years an automatic adjustment based on the California Consumer Price Index and outlines options for the Legislature’s consideration to restructure the way in which the licensing fee is assessed, with a recommendation to adopt a new structure based on attorney practice sector.

Pathways is a live program featuring panels on the state and federal judicial appointment processes, an Elimination of Bias panel, and breakout sessions that allow attendees to meet with panelists, topped off with a refreshments mixer. Lunch/refreshments will be provided.
