There are many reasons why lawyers of all experience levels should publish:
- To demonstrate your knowledge of the law and credibility as an educator in your field.
- To showcase your skills as a writer.
- To engage with readers.
- To help mentor and sponsor a junior attorney or colleague.
- Bottom line: The more lawyers publish, the better they position themselves to generate new business, whether directly from potential clients or from referrals who trust enough in your expertise to send their clients/contacts to you. Publishing also allows you to stay on top of developments in your legal field, thereby making you a more skillful lawyer.
