Webinar: Unwired Planet v. Huawei: What now for European SEP litigation?

Please share:

October 26, 2020 @ 12:00 pm 1:00 pm

This program offers 1 participatory MCLE credit. You must register in advance to participate.

Presented by the International Law Interest Group and the Licensing & Technology Transactions Interest Group.

The UK Supreme Court has held that, if a UK standard essential patent is found to be valid and infringed, the English Patents Court may determine the terms of a global fair reasonable and non-discriminatory license. This provides SEP owners with a potentially attractive mechanism to resolve global SEP licensing disputes. But should they use it or do other European jurisdictions offer better alternatives? The webinar will discuss the decision, its implications, its limitations and where it sits within the context of other European SEP litigation. The webinar will be useful for practitioners involved in the prosecution, licensing or litigating of SEPs, whether from the owner or implementer’s perspective.
