Webinar: Preventing Recurring Errors on Appeal – Prosecutorial Error

This training explores some of the more common, repeating examples of prosecutorial error that occur in California felony jury trials. Specific case examples illustrate best practices to avoid these errors and address the intersection with instructional error and ineffective assistance of counsel. The goal is to develop a broader understanding of how to approach related issues during trial.

Sabrina Lane-Erwin was a prosecutor for 25 years. She started her career at the Orange County District Attorney’s Office and was a Deputy Attorney General with the Criminal Division in San Diego. She also cross-designated with the San Diego District Attorney’s Office. With the Attorney General’s Office, she handled trial matters, felony appeals, federal habeas corpus cases, and death penalty litigation. Sabrina has been training on prosecutorial ethics since 2004.
