Every year new laws are promulgated in the world of Criminal Law. This year is no different; effective January 1, 2022, there will be several changes to the practice of criminal law that we must all be aware of and deal with. Among the changes this year include expansion of Penal Code section 1385 and reduction of high-term sentences. To provide you with the information you need, Albert Camacho and Sean Brunton from the Executive Committee of the Criminal Law Section will present this years New Laws Webinar, describing all of the changes to criminal law for 2022 and what defense counsel and prosecutors need to know.

Sean Brunton
Sean Brunton is a Deputy District Attorney with the Santa Barbara District Attorney’s Office, where he is currently assigned to the White Collar Fraud unit. Prior to working in Santa Barbara he was a Deputy District Attorney in Fresno County, where he handled misdemeanors, general felonies, and gang crimes.
Albert Camacho
Albert Camacho Jr. is a Deputy Public Defender with the Los Angeles County Public Defender’s Office. He has litigated juvenile and adult felony and misdemeanor proceedings, in addition to litigating writ petitions in the Appellate Division of the Los Angeles Superior Court, the California Court of Appeal, Second District, and the California Supreme Court. He has presented on various criminal law issues including speedy trial, felony sentencing, motion practice, and immigration consequences of criminal convictions.
