Webinar: Navigating the New Ethical Rules: Traps for the Unwary

This program will look back at the last two years of bar court proceedings as well as common issues arising in current investigations to examine how the Rules of Professional Conduct are being applied by the State Bar.  Participants will receive practical guidance on how to avoid missteps that could lead to ethical violations related to:

  • Conflicts of interest;
  • Fee splits with other lawyers;
  • Trust account violations;
  • Duties to the client and the court; 
  • Duties of diligence;
  • Issues of confidentiality and privilege; and
  • Unauthorized practice of law

Speakers

Natalie Vance is an experienced litigator, representing professionals and business entities in matters relating to professional malpractice, employment, and business disputes. Known for proactive, results-oriented litigation, Ms. Vance has successfully litigated jury trials, bench trials, binding arbitrations, FINRA arbitrations and appeals.

Ms. Vance is certified as a legal specialist by the State Bar’s California Board of Legal Specialization. Ms. Vance graduated summa cum laude from California Western School of Law, where she also received the Trustee’s Award, served as editor of the California Western Law Review, and was a two-year member of the National Moot Court team.

Ms. Vance is a member of the State Bar of California’s Legal Malpractice Advisory Commission and Sacramento County Bar Association’s Diversity Retention and Hiring Committee.  In 2019, she was recognized as the Top Lawyer, Legal Malpractice, Sacramento Magazine.
