Webinar: Native Veterans & Servicemembers: Advocacy Opportunities for Healing and Housing
November 18, 2024 @ 6:30 pm – 8:00 pm
Free Event!
Please join us the week after Veterans Day for a free webinar “Native Veterans & Servicemembers: Advocacy Opportunities for Healing and Housing” on November 18th from 6:30pm to 8pm.
This Berkeley Law Veterans Law Practicum student-led program will cover benefits available to and challenges faced by Native veterans. American Indian and Alaska Natives serve in the military at five times the national average. Yet they face significant and unique barriers accessing earned benefits. Student presenters will provide background on American Indian and Alaska Natives’ service in the military. They will also demystify under-recognized benefits and rights, focusing on: Native servicemembers’ First Amendment right to sacramental peyote use while serving; a VA home loan program specifically for Native veterans; and military diversion and tribal Healing to Wellness Courts for Native veterans.
Presentation of this Berkeley Law Veterans Law Practicum student-led program is co-sponsored by CLA’s Litigation Section, Veterans and Military Affairs Committee, and Racial Justice Committee.
Registration is not necessary for this event. Come back to this page the day of the event to access the zoom link here:
