Learn how the IRS, and other regulators and law enforcement, use BSA reports to conduct tax, regulatory, and criminal investigations. Lastly, learn how to counsel clients on the BSA.

Daniel Silva works as product counsel for Stripe—a fintech and software company—advising on global risk, credit, regulatory, and litigation issues, as well as the legal lead for its tax reporting software. Before joining Stripe, he was an Assistant US Attorney in San Diego for 10 years, where he directed investigations, prosecutions, and forfeiture litigation of complex international financial crimes, including compliance with anti-money laundering laws, tax crimes, frauds, and money laundering. In addition to his Juris Doctor, Daniel has a Master of Laws in taxation and an MBA with a concentration in international business.
Katilyn Farrell is an Associate Attorney at Emily Nicholson Law practicing in estate planning, trust, and probate law. Katilyn is a graduate of San Diego State University, where she received her Bachelor of Arts in Political Science with an emphasis in Public Law and a minor in Accounting. Katilyn received her J.D. and Master of Laws (LL.M.) in Taxation from the University of San Diego School of Law in 2020.
Katilyn currently serves as the Vice Co-Chair for the San Diego Chapter of Young Tax Lawyers and is a member of Probate Attorneys of San Diego and the San Diego County Bar Association (Tax and Estate Planning, Trust & Probate Law sections).
