Webinar: Feeling Conflicted? Understand and Avoiding Ethical Pitfalls Posed by Conflicts of Interest

The speakers will cover the basics of understanding and analyzing potential conflicts of interest, including in the contexts of current and former clients, joint representations, subpoenas, and business dealings with clients, among others.   They also will address vicarious disqualification and ethical screens.

Scott Brian Garner

Scott Garner is a partner at Umberg Zipser LLP in Irvine, California. He practices in the area of complex business litigation, with a focus on lawyer liability matters and legal ethics counseling, including in the area of estate planning. He currently is the co-chair of the Orange County Bar Association Professionalism and Ethics Committee, a current and inaugural member of the California Lawyers Association Ethics Committee, and is a former chair of the California State Bar Committee on Professional Responsibility and Conduct. Scott was the President of the Orange County Bar Association in 2020 and is a former President of the Orange County Chapter of the Association of Business Trial Lawyers. He has testified as an expert on ethics and standard of care. He speaks and writes frequently on legal ethics issues.
