Jeff Loew

Jeff Loew’s primary areas of practice include trust and estate litigation (including will and trust contests), fiduciary litigation, and financial elder abuse actions. He has tried or settled hundreds of probate court actions, as well as wrongful death actions and related tort claims. Jeff frequently represents individual beneficiaries, including on a contingency basis, as well as trustees and private professional fiduciaries. 
 
Jeff is certified as a Specialist in Estate Planning, Trust, and Probate Law by the State Bar of California Board of Legal Specialization. Jeff is the Chair of the Education Subcommittee for TEXCOM, the Executive Committee of the Trusts and Estates Section of the California Lawyers Association. Jeff has served as Chair of the Trusts and Estates Section of the San Mateo County Bar Association (SMCBA) and on the Board of the SMCBA and of the Silicon Valley Bar Association. Jeff is founding President of the San Mateo County Law Library Foundation, and a Fellow of the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel (ACTEC). Jeff has been recognized multiple times as a Top 100 Super Lawyer for Northern California. Jeff obtained his law degree from the University of California, Berkeley Law School (formerly Boalt Hall).

Ciarán O’Sullivan

Ciarán O’Sullivan has been litigating trust and estate litigation matters on behalf of individuals and entities since 1998. He began his career at the firm then known as Crosby, Heafey, Roach & May, PC (including after its merger with Reed Smith LLP).  Ciarán spent more than a decade in Big Law before opening his own firm.  While he has represented corporate and governmental interests at various times, the primary focus of his practice has been Trusts and Estates law.

Ciarán currently serves as Liaison to the Board of the California Lawyer’s Association (CLA) on behalf of the CLA’s Executive Committee for the Trusts and Estates section (TEXCOM). He previously served as Chairman of TEXCOM’s Litigation Committee and as editor of the section’s New Case Alerts from 2017 to 2021.  He is a frequent speaker on topics of interest to Trusts and Estates practitioners, and has authored numerous articles in the Trusts and Estates Quarterly and the Daily Journal.   He was the co-chair of the Bar Association of San Francisco’s Trusts and Estates Litigation section from 2008 to 2013.   Ciarán received his law degree from the University of California, Hastings College of the Law, in 1998.  

Matthew R. Owens

Matthew R. Owens focuses his practice on trust, estate, and inheritance disputes. He has prosecuted and defended a wide range of matters in probate court, including trust contests, elder abuse actions, accountings, contested conservatorships and claims involving breach of fiduciary duty. His clients include high net worth individuals and families, corporate trustees, and private professional fiduciaries. 
 
Matt is a certified specialist in estate planning, trust, and probate law by the State Bar of California Board of Legal Specialization. He frequently speaks and writes on trust and estate litigation topics, is a member of the Executive Committee of the Trusts and Estates Section of the California Lawyers Association (TEXCOM), and served as Chair of the Executive Committee of the San Diego County Bar Association’s Estate Planning, Trust, and Probate Law Section. He was recognized in the Chambers High Net Worth Guide 2023 for Private Wealth Disputes – California, has been recognized as a Best Lawyers “Ones to Watch” each year since 2021, has been a Super Lawyers Rising Star each year since 2013, and was on Legal Week’s Private Client “Ones to Watch” list in 2020-2021. Matt holds a B.A. from the University of Mississippi and a J.D. from Santa Clara University.
