Dena Sharp
Girard Sharp LLP
Dena Sharp is dedicated to finding common-sense solutions in even the most complex litigation. Most recently, she served as co-lead counsel in the In re Juul Labs Inc. multidistrict litigation, which resulted in recoveries of nearly $2 billion for individual consumers, school districts, municipalities, and Native American tribes. The last of the Juul settlements—for $235 million with Altria (formerly Philip Morris)—was reached after Dena and her co-lead trial counsel rested the plaintiff’s case in a bellwether jury trial against the tobacco giant.
Dena currently serves as co-lead counsel in In re Xyrem Antitrust Litigation and In re Google Digital Advertising Antitrust Litigation, and she serves as a member of the End-Payer Steering Committee in the massive In re Generic Pharmaceuticals Pricing Antitrust Litigation.
Dena tries cutting-edge cases. In a first-of-its-kind jury trial in 2021, Dena and team represented clients whose eggs and embryos were in a freezer tank at a fertility clinic that failed. After a three-week trial, the jury returned a $15 million verdict for the plaintiffs.
Dena was recognized as the 2023 “Lawyer of the Year” in San Francisco for Plaintiffs’ Mass Tort / Class Action Litigation by Best Lawyers in America, and selected as a “Titan of the Plaintiffs’ Bar” by Law360 in April 2023. Dena has three times been named to the National Law Journal’s “Elite Women of the Plaintiffs’ Bar,” honoring her as one of only a handful of lawyers nationwide who has “consistently excelled in high-stakes matters on behalf of plaintiffs.”
Leslie Wulff
San Francisco Office of the U.S. Department of Justice, Antitrust Division
Leslie Wulff is the Chief of the San Francisco Office of the U.S. Department of Justice, Antitrust Division. Leslie has been with the Antitrust Division for over 8 years and was previously a line prosecutor and most recently Assistant Chief. In addition to her management responsibilities, Leslie oversees the office’s criminal portfolio which involves investigations and prosecutions under federal antitrust and other criminal statutes. Leslie represented the United States in its successful prosecution of United States v. Lischewski and other criminal resolutions stemming from a conspiracy to fix prices for canned tuna. She also represented the United States in the third trial of United States v. Penn et al. Leslie has worked on dozens of other price fixing, bid rigging, and fraud investigations involving international, national, and local conduct.
Prior to joining the Antitrust Division, Leslie worked at the San Francisco Office of a large international law firm and clerked for The Honorable R. Gary Klausner of the Central District of California. She is a graduate of the University of California, Berkeley Law School.
Kathryn Cahoy
Covington & Burling LLP
Kate Cahoy uses her substantial class action experience to help clients develop strategic and innovative solutions to their most challenging litigation matters. She regularly defends clients in complex, high-stakes class action disputes involving privacy, antitrust, and consumer protection claims and has achieved significant victories for clients in the technology, entertainment, consumer product, and financial services industries. In addition, Kate has substantial experience litigating cases brought under California’s Section 17200 and other consumer protection, competition, and privacy laws. Kate was recently named on the Daily Journal’s “Top Women Lawyers” in California and Silicon Valley Business Journal’s “2023 Women of Influence” lists and has been recognized as a “Technology Rising Star” and a “Top Forty Under 40” by Law360.
Renée DuPree
Legal Director, Google
Renée DuPree is Legal Director at Google where she oversees the company’s global competition compliance team. In her role, she manages a team of competition lawyers and program managers who advise on competition risk as well as design, implement, and oversee regulatory compliance programs in response to legal challenges and regulatory commitments. Prior to joining Google in 2012, she worked as Competition Counsel for Oracle and as an Antitrust Associate at Bingham McCutchen LLP. Renée holds a Bachelor of Science from Northwestern University, and a J.D. from the University of Michigan Law School.
Moderated by The Honorable Rita F. Lin
Judge Rita F. Lin is a United States District Judge in the Northern District of California. Before joining the federal bench, she was a Superior Court Judge in San Francisco, where she presided over a variety of criminal matters ranging from felony trials to preliminary hearings to mental health court. Prior to becoming a judge, Judge Lin was an Assistant United States Attorney, and investigated and prosecuted cases involving public corruption, illegal opioid prescriptions, organized crime, money laundering, and narcotics trafficking, among other areas. Before that, she was a law firm partner at Morrison and Foerster, where she practiced complex commercial litigation and carried an active pro bono caseload. She began her career as a law clerk for Judge Sandra Lynch on the United States Court of Appeals for the First Circuit. She received her J.D., magna cum laude, from Harvard Law School and B.A., magna cum laude, in Social Studies from Harvard College.
