Colorful Meals for Optimal Health
February 24, 2023 @ 12:00 pm – 1:00 pm
Free event! No MCLE. Presented by the CLA Health and Wellness Committee in celebration of Heart Health Month.
Health food advocate and plant-based chef, Tracy Childs, joins us for a virtual cooking demonstration of “Pink Pasta”. Learn more about the myriad benefits of plant-based eating including the reversal of many chronic diseases, like heart disease.
Tracy has taught nutrition and cooking for over a decade as a Food for Life Instructor, certified with the Physician’s Committee for Responsible Medicine. As the Co-Founder and Director of Veg-Appeal in San Diego she offers healthy cooking classes, corporate wellness, individual cooking lessons, store tours & personal health coaching. She’s a certified Nutritional Consultant and holds a Certificate in Plant Based Nutrition from eCornell.
When the pandemic hit in March of 2020, Tracy started Tracy’s Real Foods with her husband, a San Diego-based food company that ships uniquely whole-food, plant-based, gluten-free and oil-free Goodies like cookies (based on lentils and dates!), granola, crackers and REAL Burgers nationwide.
Fostering community is a priority. In 2015, she founded PlantDiego, a San Diego-based nonprofit to educate and support people in seeking a healthy, whole-food, plant-based lifestyle.
She loves sharing her healthy food tips and she’s a frequent contributor, filming live cooking demos and community events on Facebook on UnchainedTV.
You may also find Tracy’s recipes in print! She contributed over 100 recipes for the book by —David Kater: Handbook to Higher Health Consciousness and has a section in “Food is Climate” by Glen Merzer. She’s currently working on a new book, also with Glen Merzer.
Tracy’s proud of her two adult children, both raised vegetarian, who continue thriving in a healthy plant-based lifestyle.
Being a super passionate healthy food advocate (and kale lover!), she fully embraced a plant-based lifestyle after first becoming vegetarian as a teen, then fully plant-based as a young adult. She’s dedicated to spreading the message of how plants & lifestyle choices can heal the planet, protect animals, and help us avoid needless suffering from lifestyle-related diseases. And she’s determined to turn YOU into a kale lover as well!
