Black Mayors & Leadership in the United States: The Honorable Lori E. Lightfoot, Mayor of Chicago

A virtual series presented by the Institute for the Study of Societal Issues and the Department of African American Studies & African Diaspora Studies at the University of California, Berkeley with the Great Cities Institute at the University of Illinois at Chicago.  The California Lawyers Association’s Racial Justice Committee and Litigation Section proudly co-sponsor this series in addition to many other organizations.  Click here to learn more.


Three Mayors, Three Vices, Three Visions.  Three sessions exploring lessons learned and equity challenges these mayors faced in building unity during a worldwide pandemic and sharp economic contraction. 

In this event, Mayor Lori E. Lightfoot will discuss criminal justice reform.  The event will be moderated by Cheryl Corley, NPR National Correspondent, and will include a panel discussion with Nikki Jones, Professor of African American Studies, UC Berkeley, and Cid Martinez, Associate Professor of Sociology, University of San Diego.
