Environmental Law
Chair Report
Hello, ELS Members!
Last month, we had our first monthly Zoom networking opportunity. It was a great discussion about the Yosemite Conference and other recommendations from our members. We hope you can join us for the next one on November 20.
Applications have now closed for the 2025 Diversity & Inclusion Fellowship program. If you would like to make a tax-deductible contribution to help fund the program, please email us at environmental@calawyers.org.
In this month’s edition of the eNews we highlight the opening of registration for the 2025 Law Student Negotiation Competition. This was my favorite activity I did in law school and the skills I developed preparing for and participating in the competition have been extremely helpful in my career. Please encourage any law students you know to participate, and volunteer to be a judge if you’re in the Los Angeles area.
We also highlight the opening of applications for our 2025 Mentorship Program. This is a great way to give back and support a newer attorney or law student. Thank you to our members who have volunteered as mentors the first two years of the program.
For webinars, this month we are promoting a webinar put on by the Public Law Section – Administrative Writs and Mandamus Practice 101 – which should be useful for many of our members. Last month’s webinar on Environmental Dispute Resolution Strategies is available for purchase in our online catalogue.
Finally, we also include a heads up for calls for panels for next year’s Environmental Law Conference at Yosemite®, a Save the Date for our upcoming Diversity Conference, a call for articles for the Section’s Environmental Law News, and an update on upcoming activities sponsored by the CLA Health and Wellness Committee.
