The California Lawyers Association (CLA) is the Bar association for all California attorneys. We are a member-driven, mission-focused organization dedicated to the professional advancement of attorneys practicing in the state of California. CLA houses the eighteen Sections including the New Lawyers Section (NLS) that share an area of interest in law and each offers top-tier programs, award winning conferences, events, and provides access to outstanding legal resources. We continuously seek new ways to expand our offerings. Through premier educational and networking opportunities, our members can maintain expertise in their fields, build contacts, and uphold the legal profession and system. CLA also has several initiatives that support its mission of promoting excellence, diversity and inclusion in the legal profession and fairness in the administration of justice and the rule of law. 


The Project Coordinator (PC) provides organizational support and maintains expert knowledge about the organization. This role helps to implement, maintain and coordinate projects, programs and activities for CLA and the California Lawyers Foundation (CLF). The PC will oversee certain stages of projects and the various tasks involved in the execution like scheduling, organizing, record-keeping and handling information flow. This job requires up to 10% out of town, overnight travel. 

Skills and Requirements: 

  • Develop comprehensive action plans concerning resources and timeframes for assigned projects 
  • Participate in project design meetings and propose improvements if necessary 
  • Evaluate potential problems and technical hitches and develop solutions 
  • Coordinate current projects and with team members to keep workflow on track 
  • Manage project-related paperwork by ensuring all necessary materials are current, properly filed and stored 
  • Adhere to budget by monitoring expenses and implementing cost-saving measures 
  • Act as a resource to CLA staff and to volunteer members on assigned projects 
  • Coordinate the Board agenda and associated materials 
  • Provide support to Committees and Initiatives 
  • Apply website updates and maintain ADA compliance 
  • Administer and support zoom programs 
  • Conduct video processing 
  • Track demographics and prepare letters for Committee appointments 
  • Oversee assigned email inboxes and complete correspondence 
  • Assist with invoicing and financial processing, pcard reconciliation, receipt collection and monthly reporting 
  • Update and maintain rosters, listservs, other spreadsheets and lists 
  • Coordinate volunteer presentations 
  • Maintain Bar Leaders contact list and attendance reports 
  • Provide support for the Annual California Bar Leaders Conference and external commissions and committees 

Support for the California Lawyers Foundation (CLF): 

  • Provide CLF Committee support 
  • Track roadshows and grants 
  • Issue grant payments and letters 
  • Process donations (i.e., DCRs), invoices and expense reports 
  • Disperse publications (i.e., comic books and When You Turn 18 brochures) 
  • Perform other similar administrative tasks and duties as assigned 


  • 4-year Bachelors degree preferred 
  • At least three (3) years of experience in a similar role 
  • Strong skills with the Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Acrobat DC Pro, Zoom, and ability to learn and use other database and software programs 
  • Communicate clearly and effectively in person, by telephone and in writing 
  • Possess time management skills with the ability to meet deadlines 
  • Research techniques and procedures 
  • Problem solve and provide solutions 
  • Ability to work independently without constant supervision 
  • Experience scheduling and running zoom meetings 
  • Experience with using Adobe Acrobat DC Pro 
  • Ability to analyze and synthesize specific policies, programs, projects and procedures and how they interact with the general CLA policies, programs, and procedures
