I confess. As your Chief Member Experience Officer, I spend a lot of time thinking about the benefits, experiences, and opportunities California Lawyers Association (CLA) can bring to our members of the largest volunteer Bar Association in California.

There are, of course, the obvious, tangible benefits. Our members receive more than $3,200 annually in research and practice management software, MCLE opportunities, and access to all 18 specialty law practice Sections. Our Sections produce many outstanding publications, all available to you. We offer career center and employment resources. Then, there are the discounts on hotels, car rental, appliances, and even insurance.

Next, are the intangible benefits. Nowhere else in California do our members have the chance to network with colleagues, learn from each other, attend unique and tailored in-person meetings and conferences, and make life-long friendships at such capacity.

These are just some of the advantages and rewards of being part of CLA. However, the more I think about it, the more I’ve come to realize that YOU, as members, are THE benefit. You are an incredible group of people, making a difference every single day, across California, the nation, and the world. You are passionate, fascinating, remarkable people. As I said in my message reflecting on my first 90 days with this phenomenal organization, I am impressed!

This February, CLA will begin its New Member Campaign and Section Competition. A lot of thought has been placed into meaningful ways to encourage attorneys and law professionals across the state to become part of this incredible partnership, all while having a bit of fun. As CEO, Chris Nguyen, says in his January 2025 message, the figures are staggering. CLA is more than 45,000 members strong.

Let’s grow that figure. As an achiever, you can share your reasons with others about why CLA is important to you. Invite a colleague to attend an event, or visit our website, or participate in a webinar. Whether you realize it or not, YOU are the inspiration and value as you Connect, Lead, and Achieve into 2025.
