Jeremy Evans Interviewed on Fox40

Sacramento news station Fox40 interviewed California Lawyers Association President Jeremy M. Evans in March to discuss the pending sentencing of Paul Flores for the murder of Kristin Smart. Flores was found guilty last year of murdering a California Polytechnic State University classmate in a case that had gone unsolved for a quarter century.

On the eve of the sentencing, Evans went live on Fox40 to discuss the penalty options and the pending defense motions to dismiss the case.

Evans said that after reading case transcripts, the likely outcome for Flores would be at least 25 years in prison. He explained that defense motions to dismiss relied on proving prosecutorial and judicial error, a high bar to meet. “I don’t think it raises to that level in this case,” he said.

Flores later received a sentence of 25 years to life in prison.
