The following regulatory information may be of interest to attorneys practicing insurance law. This information is current as of March 19, 2024.

New Health Insurance Laws

On February 26, 2024, the CDI issued a Notice regarding “Statutes Impacting Health Insurers in 2024”. The Notice summarizes newly enacted statutes and newly effective statutes that are applicable to health insurers. These laws include provisions relating to contraceptive coverage, student health insurance, abortion provider protections, and privacy policy requirements.

Proposed Rate Filings Regulations

On February 9, 2024, the CDI issued an Initial Statement of Reasons and Notice of Proposed Action and Notice of Public Hearing (both of which are linked here) with respect to an exempt rulemaking to revise rules addressing what constitutes a “complete rate filing.” The hearing will take place on March 26, 2024, and any written comments are due by 5:00 p.m. Pacific on that date.
