BLS Officers, Advisors and Standing Committee Members Attend the 2019 Ninth Circuit Judicial Conference

BLS Vice-Chair Corey Weber, BLS Executive Committee Advisor Tom Phinney, and Insolvency Law Committee (ILC) members Misty Perry Isaacson, Maggie Bordeaux and Cathy Ta attended the Ninth Circuit Judicial Conference in Spokane, Washington on July 20-25, 2019 as Lawyer Representatives to the Ninth Circuit Judicial Conference.  The Ninth Circuit Judicial Conference is held once a year and participants include judges of the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit, the U.S. District Courts and U.S. Bankruptcy Courts, court staff, Lawyer Representatives, and other invited guests. 

Pursuant to 28 U.S.C. § 333, the Ninth Circuit Judicial Conference convenes “for the purpose of considering the business of the courts and advising means of improving the administration of justice within the circuit.”  This year’s conference included notable speakers including U.S. Supreme Court Associate Justice Elena Kagan and California Supreme Court Chief Justice Tani Cantil-Sakauye.  In addition to attending the conference, many of the BLS members and advisors had active roles in planning and speaking at the conference.
